How is the O2Ring S different from the original O2Ring?
It's the newer version of the same idea: a slimmer profile, roughly one-second sampling versus the original's four, and up to about 24 hours of battery. Both record continuous SpO₂ and pulse rate overnight, and both can vibrate on your finger when a reading crosses a threshold you set. OxyRemote supports both.
My O2Ring S doesn't appear in the device list.
First make sure OxyRemote is up to date — recent versions widened device discovery to cover newer O2Ring S hardware, which advertises itself over Bluetooth under more than one name. Also check that no other app is holding the connection: a ring can only talk to one app at a time, so fully close the manufacturer's app before pairing.
Does the wearer need to keep the app open?
The phone near the wearer keeps the Bluetooth connection in the background. Remote viewers can simply open the app whenever they want to check in, and alerts arrive as push notifications either way.
Does this replace the manufacturer's app?
No — it's independent software with a different purpose. OxyRemote focuses on live remote viewing and family alerts. You can keep using the manufacturer's app for its own features like detailed sleep reports.
